AirBerlin Launches New Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Service

Airberlin, Germany’s second-largest airline and a member of the oneworld alliance, will launch service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Düsseldorf (DUS) beginning May 2016. The carrier plans to operate four weekly flights on this route.

“We are excited to welcome oneworld partner Airberlin to the Dallas/Fort Worth area as they add another key European destination to DFW’s growing portfolio of international flights,” said Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW Airport. “This new service to Düsseldorf will offer our customers more travel options and improved connectivity to Europe. We appreciate Airberlin’s commitment to our airport and region and look forward to a long and productive partnership within the oneworld network.”

Service is scheduled to commence on May 6, with departures four times per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Through November 23, introductory fares start at $1,099 round-trip, taxes included.

Next summer Airberlin will add a total of 15 additional weekly flights between Germany and the United States, expanding service to cities including Boston and San Francisco. The airline will operate flights from Düsseldorf and Berlin to eight U.S. destinations, totaling 58 weekly transatlantic frequencies. Complementing recent upgrades to its fully flat business class, Airberlin is retrofitting its long-haul fleet with 40 extra XL seats that provide six additional inches of legroom.

“The United States is a strategic market for our network, and we believe there is room for further growth,” said Stefan Pichler, CEO of Airberlin. “Demand for travel to the U.S. remains strong. Adding Dallas/Fort Worth to our U.S. network enables more route combinations and travel choices for our customers. We see significant potential in the important business travel segment, where our stable route network and high-quality onboard product will deliver real advantages.”
