Hawaiian Airlines passengers can now experience the carrier’s new premium cabin on its first Airbus A330 equipped with fully lie-flat seats. The premium cabin features 18 lie-flat seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration, designed especially for leisure travelers, couples and small groups who prefer to sit together.
Each seat measures 20.5 inches wide by 76 inches long and includes multiple power options: an A/C outlet, two USB ports and additional charging connections. Seats also offer individual controls and a tablet-based entertainment system mounted on a telescoping arm, providing convenient, personal in-flight entertainment and comfort adjustments.
The cabin’s interior reflects contemporary Polynesian design, drawing inspiration from the ocean, islands and traditional navigation. Privacy partitions use natural reed and resin materials, giving a warm, organic feel. A decorative panel between the premium and main cabins features the Makali‘i constellation, honoring the star cluster that guided Polynesian voyagers and held significance during Hawaiian Airlines’ inaugural flight in 1929.
“Our custom-built fully lie-flat seats and our new premium cabin redefine the leisure travel experience to Hawai‘i,” said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines. “From small details to larger design choices, we created a cabin that provides unparalleled comfort and reflects the authenticity and warmth of Hawaiian hospitality.”
The Airbus A330 outfitted with the new premium cabin accommodates a total of 278 passengers: 18 in premium, 68 in Extra Comfort and 192 in the main cabin. Hawaiian Airlines plans to deploy this aircraft on West Coast routes during the upcoming fall season, with additional aircraft receiving the premium cabin configuration through 2018.
