Frida Kahlo Exhibit Comes to Florida Next Year: Dates & Tickets

The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla., presents “Frida Kahlo at the Dali” from Dec. 17–April 17, 2017. This indoor-outdoor exhibition showcases more than 60 works by Frida Kahlo, including paintings, drawings, and personal photographs. In the museum’s garden, plantings mirror the species and flowers found in Kahlo’s Casa Azul, recreating the atmosphere of her Mexican home.

A range of programs will accompany the exhibition, reflecting Kahlo’s varied interests: Mexican cooking demonstrations, journaling workshops, and gardening activities inspired by her pastimes. Although often labeled a Surrealist—a label Kahlo herself resisted—her art delves into themes of love, suffering, identity, and beauty. Like Salvador Dalí, Kahlo cultivated a distinctive artistic persona that continues to shape public perceptions of her work.

Be sure to explore the museum’s permanent collection as well, which contains more than 2,000 works by Dalí spanning his entire career. The collection includes prints, photographs, objects, paintings, book illustrations, and works on paper, offering a comprehensive look at Dalí’s creative range and influence.
