Air Canada is introducing enhanced services this summer for customers traveling with young children. Passengers on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express flights who are traveling with young children will benefit from dedicated check-in counters at major hubs, complimentary seat selection for proximity seating, and a range of additional family-focused amenities.
Dedicated check-in counters are available at Air Canada’s primary hubs: Toronto (YYZ), Montreal (YUL) and Vancouver (YVR). The service is offered to families with children under 6 years old on international, domestic and trans-border flights at Toronto, and on international and domestic flights at Montreal and Vancouver. Participating families will also receive pre-boarding between zones 2 and 3 and priority rebooking if flight schedules change. Special amenities will be provided for children both at check-in and when boarding the aircraft.
“Summer is the time of family travel and Air Canada is pleased to offer special new services to make each trip easy and memorable for customers with young children. With Air Canada Family Summer Travel Services, we are introducing airport and onboard programs that will simplify all aspects of the travel experience for families during their summer holiday travels. Parents will be able to enjoy peace of mind so they can share in their children’s delight in the magic of flying and freedom of summer,” said Benjamin Smith, president, airlines, and COO, Air Canada.
These summer services complement Air Canada’s existing family programs, including the airline’s fee-for-service unaccompanied minor option for children ages 8–17, and reflect a broader focus on creating a smoother, more comfortable journey for families. By offering dedicated touchpoints, seating assistance and boarding priorities, the airline aims to reduce stress at the airport and onboard, helping families make the most of their travel time together.
In practice, the new measures simplify routine travel tasks: dedicated counters speed up check-in and baggage processing, complimentary proximity seat selection helps keep family members together without extra charge, and pre-boarding allows parents to settle children and stow carry-on items before general boarding begins. Priority rebooking provides added reassurance when plans change, giving families faster access to alternate flights and support from Air Canada staff.
These enhancements are intended to improve the overall travel experience for families during the busy summer season. By combining practical airport services with thoughtful onboard amenities, Air Canada seeks to make family travel more predictable and enjoyable, supporting parents and children from curb to gate and into the air.
