Delta Launches New Nonstop Routes From Seattle This Summer

Delta Air Lines announced plans to expand its service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to additional regional and national destinations as it seeks to compete more directly with Alaska Airlines, which maintains a strong presence at Sea-Tac.

Building on the positive reception of its recently launched Seattle–Austin (AUS) route, Delta will add a second daily nonstop flight departing Seattle in the morning beginning Oct. 1. The added frequency aims to provide more convenient options for business and leisure travelers with both morning and afternoon departures between the two cities.

Delta is also introducing daily nonstop service between Seattle and Medford, Oregon (MFR), marking the carrier’s ninth Pacific Northwest destination from Sea-Tac. Additional new services will serve Oregon’s Eugene (EUG) and Redmond (RDM), expanding the airline’s footprint throughout the region.

Service to Medford will be operated once daily by Delta Connection partner SkyWest Airlines using a 76-seat, two-class Embraer 175. The aircraft will feature First Class and Comfort+ seating and onboard Wi-Fi, offering a comfortable option for travelers on this route.

“Our Austin flight has been tremendously popular, and with this additional flight, we offer Seattle customers the best schedule options for business travel with a morning and afternoon departure from both cities,” said John Caldwell, vice president – Seattle, Delta. “Additionally, our new service to Medford means we now can offer customers access to nine daily destinations throughout the Pacific Northwest from our Sea-Tac hub.”

Over the past year, Delta has expanded its year-round presence at Sea-Tac to include seven daily destinations: Austin, Nashville (BNA), Eugene, Milwaukee (MKE), Chicago (ORD), Redmond and Raleigh (RDU). The airline also plans to begin service to Lihue, Hawai‘i (LIH) in December, further broadening its route network from Seattle.
