Discovering A New Findery: Unique Treasures and Finds

There’s a new social media app designed for world travelers.

Created by Caterina Fake, cofounder of Flickr, Findery encourages people to annotate the world by sharing geo-tagged stories—history, personal memories, memorable moments, trivia, and other unexpected details tied to places.

Findery treats the world as a canvas overlaid on a map. The platform lets users annotate locations using text, images, audio, and video, making it easy and engaging to organize experiences and information around specific places.

“Every place has a story, or a thousand stories,” said Caterina Fake, founder and CEO of Findery. “Findery brings places to life, whether they’re where you stand or where you hope to go.”

In addition to individual notes, Findery members can create Notemaps—a curated collection of notes centered on a topic, theme, or location. Notemaps can serve as travel journals, destination to-do lists, or themed collections documenting topics such as “Lost Los Angeles” or “Punk Rock in Chicago.” Members can add their own notes and include notes from others to build a coherent, organized Notemap.

Findery is social by design. Members can follow other users or public Notemaps and receive notifications when new notes are posted. Notes can be public or private, and the app helps organize a member’s content, track activity on their notes, and show follower information.

Examples of discoverable notes and Notemaps on Findery include:

  • NYC Memory Map — A collection of memories from in and around New York City compiled by a former resident.
  • Dubai Details — Vivid scenes and everyday discoveries from a Canadian expat documenting life in Dubai.
  • Tacos — A curated guide to some of the best tacos and taco spots across the United States.
