Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central introduces the Junior Hotelier experience, a weekend program designed to give children a practical, behind-the-scenes introduction to running a 5-star hotel. Aimed at kids aged 4–12, the program combines education and fun by letting participants try out roles across culinary, front desk and housekeeping teams. The program launches over Easter weekend and runs through June 28.
“The Junior Hotelier at Sheraton Macao is a special program that brings edutainment to life,” said Josef Dolp, central managing director of Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai. “It gives children a unique chance to experience the satisfaction we get every day from creating memorable stays and culinary moments for our guests, while learning how a hotel operates behind the scenes.”
Participants can explore a variety of hotel functions. In food and beverage, children may take on roles such as junior barman or junior chef, learning basic techniques and food handling under supervision. In the rooms division, roles such as junior agent or junior housekeeper introduce kids to guest services, room preparation and the importance of attention to detail. To create an authentic atmosphere, each child receives a Junior Hotelier uniform tailored to their role, such as a chef’s apron and hat or a housekeeping apron.
Sessions run on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., during which children complete simple, age-appropriate tasks led by experienced Sheraton Macao staff. For example, Richard Lao, chef de partie, guides young Junior Chefs through activities like rolling and shaping dough, preparing icing and decorating cookies. Junior Agents learn how to welcome and check in guests, manage luggage, and prepare a room for a special celebration, gaining hands-on insight into guest relations and service standards.
The Junior Hotelier program emphasizes learning through doing, encouraging teamwork, confidence and practical life skills while giving children a memorable, hotel-style experience. With clear instructions and close supervision from professional team members, the activities are designed to be safe, engaging and accessible for the 4–12 age group. Parents can expect their children to leave with new skills, a sense of accomplishment and a better understanding of hospitality careers.
By offering this interactive program, Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central, aims to inspire young minds and showcase the varied roles that ensure a smooth, welcoming hotel operation. The hands-on format highlights both the creativity involved in culinary tasks and the organizational skills required in guest services and housekeeping. As a short weekend activity, Junior Hotelier fits into family plans while providing a compact, enriching experience that reflects the high standards of a five-star property.
