Exploring Iran: A 14-Day Cultural and Historical Tour Guide

Discover the mysteries of Iran with travel and tour specialists MIR Corporation on the 12-day “Iran Unveiled” journey. The itinerary begins in Tehran, where visitors can explore lively boutiques, traditional teahouses, varied restaurants and several museums, including the Carpet Museum. Travelers will also have an opportunity to view the famed Crown Jewels before continuing south to Shiraz.

In Shiraz, the program highlights the lush, UNESCO-listed Eram Garden, the historic 11th-century Vakil Bazaar and the tomb of Iran’s beloved poet Hafez. While based in Shiraz, the tour includes a day trip to Persepolis to examine the impressive ruins of the ancient Achaemenid ceremonial capital, with its reliefs and monumental stone columns that testify to a rich imperial past.

The journey continues to the archaeological site of Pasargadae, followed by a stay in Yazd. Yazd’s skyline is marked by soaring wind catchers (badgirs) and historic architecture; the city offers visits to its atmospheric old quarter, the Zoroastrian Fire Temple and the evocative Towers of Silence. Along the way, the itinerary pauses in Maybod to see a 2,000-year-old mud-brick castle, an enduring example of desert construction techniques.

From Maybod the tour moves to the village of Naein, where traditional weavers still produce hand-woven mantles and rugs using age-old methods. The final destination is Isfahan, celebrated for its elegant Safavid-era architecture. In Isfahan visitors stroll through the magnificent UNESCO-listed Imam Square and the 17th-century Qaisarieh (Quaisarieh) Bazaar, a bustling market filled with brass and copperware crafted by local artisans, along with handmade jewelry, paintings and carpets.

This guided program combines cultural immersion, historic sites and encounters with local craftsmanship. Prices start at $5,595 per person.
