JW Marriott has arrived in Spain with the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Madrid. Situated in the Canalejas neighborhood, the hotel is within easy walking distance of theaters, leading art institutions and many of the city’s most popular landmarks and attractions.
Housed in a building that once served as one of Madrid’s oldest perfumeries, JW Marriott Hotel Madrid reflects that heritage through its design, scent and atmosphere. The interiors favor natural materials and a neutral color palette to create a calm, welcoming setting, while subtle references to the building’s past appear throughout guest rooms and public areas.
The property offers 139 rooms, including suites, many of which feature large terraces with city views. In-room experiences emphasize personalized wellness: rooms can be equipped with yoga mats, and guests receive QR access to video workouts and guided meditations. A thoughtful bath menu elevates bathing into a spa-like ritual, combining customizable lighting, curated playlists and tailored bath amenities to create a restorative private experience.

Wellness facilities include a spacious, fully equipped fitness center and dedicated wellness areas. Dining is led by QU, a restaurant and cocktail concept overseen by Michelin-starred chef Mario Sandoval. The menu draws on ingredients grown in the hotel’s JW Garden and sourced from local producers, presenting refined Spanish dishes that showcase regional flavors. A curated wine and cocktail list complements the food offering, highlighting ingredients and aromas such as rosemary, lemon and chocolate to evoke the spirit of the city.
Scent is central to the guest experience beyond the restaurant. In collaboration with the Spanish Academy of Perfume, JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has developed a holistic program designed to engage the senses. Arrival rituals include a traditional violet- or rosemary-scented tea served in artisanal ceramic cups. Guests select from five signature “Madrid scents” to be placed in their wardrobes, and stories about Madrid’s aromas are provided at bedside to promote relaxation before sleep. The lobby hosts an exhibition of antique perfume bottles, books and essences, and guests interested in a deeper exploration can join scent training workshops run in partnership with the Academy for an informative, hands-on introduction to the city’s fragrance heritage.
