Discover Peru: Top Land and Water Adventures Tour

This December, explore both iconic and off-the-beaten-path Peruvian destinations on the 13-day “Peru: Land & Water, History & Nature” tour from Classic Escapes. The journey covers Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu, and also ventures into the Sacred Valley, Cuyuni, Puerto Maldonado, Tambopata and Lake Sandoval.

Highlights of the itinerary include a motorized canoe expedition along the Madre de Dios River; a visit to the wreck of the steamboat Fitzcarrald, a site that inspired filmmaker Werner Herzog; a stop at Puerto Maldonado’s Butterfly Farm, which houses thousands of butterfly and moth species; a day spent with an indigenous Cuyuni community; a weaving demonstration by a master Andean artisan in the Sacred Valley; an extraordinary dining experience near a pre-Columbian temple at La Huaca Pucllana; a guided tour of Lima’s Larco Museum, home to an extensive collection spanning more than 3,000 years of Peruvian and pre-Columbian history; and a guided exploration of the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu.

The scheduled departure runs Dec. 5–17. Prices start at $3,995 per person, based on double occupancy, and include superior double accommodations, daily breakfast, most meals, transfers and internal flights. International airfare and any meals not specified in the itinerary are not included.

In addition to the December departure, five further departures are planned for 2019. Private trips are available on request for travelers who prefer alternative dates or customized arrangements.
