Ireland-based Aer Lingus has reached an agreement with Alaska Airlines to allow travelers who fly with either carrier to earn miles in Alaska’s Mileage Plan.
Alaska has built similar partnerships with international carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines and Icelandair. In recent years it lost ties with several major European partners, including Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM. Partnering with Aer Lingus restores important transatlantic connectivity for Alaska, leveraging Aer Lingus’ Dublin hub to expand access to Europe while giving Aer Lingus a more direct route to U.S. West Coast cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
Under the new agreement, members of Alaska’s loyalty program will be able to both earn and redeem Mileage Plan miles on flights between the United States and Ireland operated by Aer Lingus, and on many onward connections into mainland Europe. The partnership was announced in March and may take up to six months to become fully operational.
