Virgin America has partnered with China Southern Airlines to introduce a codeshare agreement that simplifies travel and booking between China, Southeast Asia and multiple Virgin America destinations across the United States.
As part of the agreement, China Southern will place its two‑letter airline code (CZ) and corresponding flight numbers onto a selection of Virgin America services operating from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO). The codeshare covers several West Coast routes connecting to major U.S. cities, including Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Las Vegas (LAS), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), Seattle (SEA), San Diego (SAN) and Washington, D.C. (IAD).
This arrangement enables passengers traveling between China or Southeast Asia and the United States to book itineraries through China Southern using a single reservation, with coordinated schedules and baggage transfer options where applicable. The codeshare also expands the network reach for both carriers, offering travelers more convenient connections and a smoother travel experience when moving between international and domestic segments.
Customers booking through either airline can expect integrated ticketing and the ability to check connections and through‑checked baggage on eligible itineraries, subject to the carriers’ rules and the specific ticketing agreements in place. Travelers should verify details such as baggage allowances, lounge access and frequent flyer credit with the airline issuing the ticket before completing their reservation.
By aligning schedules and codes, the partnership aims to improve connectivity for business and leisure travelers, providing more flight options and streamlined transfers at gateway cities on the U.S. West Coast. The codeshare complements existing services offered by both airlines and contributes to a more cohesive transpacific travel network.
