Hard Rock Hotel Coming to Atlanta: Opening Details & Timeline

A new Hard Rock Hotel will soon open in Atlanta’s historic downtown Castleberry Hill neighborhood as part of a major development project that also includes a $1.6 billion sports stadium.

Construction began last week on the 220-room Hard Rock Hotel, which is scheduled to open in spring 2018. The property will sit adjacent to the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and MLS side Atlanta United FC. Atlanta United is set to play its first match in the stadium with a retractable roof on July 30.

Frank Chen, general manager of Bolton Atlanta, LP, said the neighborhood’s energetic vibe and long history of supporting the arts make Castleberry Hill a natural fit for Hard Rock. “The area’s energetic atmosphere and history of embracing artistic endeavors aligns well with the Hard Rock Hotel product and we’re sure the upcoming property will quickly become the go-to entertainment and leisure destination,” Chen said.

The hotel will feature a rooftop pool, full-service restaurant and bar, a spa and fitness center, ballroom and banquet facilities, retail space and an active lobby lounge designed for both visitors and locals. Its close proximity to the new stadium and the Georgia World Congress Center—one of the largest convention facilities in the United States—positions the hotel to serve sports fans, convention attendees and leisure travelers alike.

Marco Roca, executive vice president of global hotel development for Hard Rock International, noted Atlanta’s growing appeal to travelers worldwide. “Atlanta has become a preferred destination among travelers and the city’s widespread appeal makes it an ideal destination for Hard Rock’s global fan base,” Roca said. “We look forward to showcasing our world-class brand and bringing the Hard Rock Hotels experience to this thriving modern city.”

With its mix of entertainment-focused amenities and convenient access to major event venues, the new Hard Rock Hotel is expected to become a prominent hospitality option in the revitalized Castleberry Hill area, catering to both visitors seeking nightlife and culture and groups attending events at the nearby stadium and convention center.
