Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, originally founded in Thailand, has developed a global reputation for luxurious, sustainable resorts and spas. This year the brand expands further across Asia and the Pacific with four new openings on its home continent and nearby islands, each reflecting Six Senses’ focus on authentic local experiences, wellness, and environmental sensitivity.
The first of the new destinations opened in early 2017 on Krabey Island, a short boat ride from the coastal town of Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Six Senses Krabey Island occupies about 30 acres and offers 40 private villas, many with their own pools, set into a lush tropical landscape. The resort is designed for relaxed exploration of its island surroundings, combining beach and nature activities with thoughtful wellness programming. Dining highlights local Indochinese flavors, while spa offerings include signature therapies and alternative treatments available at the Alchemy Bar. Guests can also find quiet space for reflection, including a meditation cave.
Later in the year the brand will expand its Indonesian presence with a new 100-villa resort in Bali, bringing Six Senses’ blend of contemporary design and traditional Balinese hospitality to one of the world’s most visited islands. Also planned for opening are five separate lodges in Bhutan, collectively branded as Six Senses Bhutan and intended to be experienced in sequence to showcase the country’s dramatic landscapes and rich culture. Finally, the company will open a property in Fiji that leverages the island nation’s natural beauty and relaxed Pacific lifestyle — a setting that aligns closely with Six Senses’ resort philosophy.
Each new property emphasizes local cuisine, culturally informed design, and wellness programs tailored to the destination. Whether on a private Cambodian island, the shores of Bali, the remote valleys of Bhutan, or the reefs of Fiji, the resorts aim to offer immersive stays that combine comfort with sustainability and a strong sense of place.
