JetBlue is expanding its presence in Boston (BOS), increasing peak-day departures by more than 40 percent to reach 200 daily peak departures, and introducing a new nonstop route to Atlanta (ATL) starting March 30, 2017.
“Boston travelers have spoken, and we are listening by adding Atlanta to our route map and expanding our operation to 200 peak day departures,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president, commercial and planning at JetBlue. “After decades of being underserved by high-fare legacy carriers, Boston now has an airline committed to offering competitive fares, enhanced service and the most nonstop destinations from the airport.”
With the addition of Atlanta, JetBlue will operate 63 nonstop destinations from Boston, making it the largest carrier by nonstop routes at the airport. Service from Atlanta will connect onward to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), New York (JFK) and Orlando (MCO). An Airbus A320 will be used on the Boston–Atlanta route. Flights will depart Boston five times daily for Atlanta at 6:10 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 1:10 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:55 p.m.
JetBlue also plans service enhancements on other transcontinental and seasonal routes. A fourth daily Mint flight between Boston and San Francisco (SFO) will begin July 15, 2017, while Mint service will be expanded to every Boston–Los Angeles (LAX) flight starting Nov. 18, 2016. In addition, the airline is converting its seasonal flights from Boston to Montego Bay (MBJ) and St. Thomas (STT) into year-round service.
These changes are part of JetBlue’s broader effort to grow its Boston operation, offer more nonstop options, and provide passengers with additional premium and domestic connections. Travelers can expect increased frequency, more peak-day choices, and expanded Mint availability on key transcontinental routes.
