ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Publisher and CEO Francis X. Gallagher and I were in Miami meeting clients, and Trump International Beach Resort Sunny Isles proved to be an excellent location for our trip. Though it carries the Trump name, the resort is owned by developer Gil Dezer rather than the president. It sits conveniently between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, making it an easy choice for business and leisure.
I arrived by car from our offices in Sarasota and was promptly greeted by the valet. When I entered the lobby, staff told me the boss had arrived just minutes earlier and that they had been expecting me. Check-in was efficient and smooth, and I received keys to a room on the 29th floor.

GUEST QUARTERS: The suite felt more like a compact apartment than a traditional hotel room. The entry area opened to a generous living room, a separate dining space, a functional kitchenette and a washer/dryer. The bedroom, separated from the main living area, featured a king-sized bed, a business workstation, a five-piece bathroom and a private balcony.
The balcony was a standout — the Atlantic stretched broadly before me and the calm breeze made it easy to linger outside for hours. Floor-to-ceiling windows amplified the natural light and framed the ocean view, which provided a constant and impressive backdrop during my stay.
Interiors echoed the ocean outside, with shades of blue in the fabrics and artwork balanced by neutral ivory and sand tones. The décor felt fresh yet restrained, letting the natural scenery remain the focal point.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: The resort offers a range of amenities including five dining outlets, two pools, a full-service spa, a fitness center, meeting space, and tennis and pickleball courts. During our visit we entertained clients at Gili’s Beach Club, where the hostess was attentive and ensured we had a private beachside table for our gathering.

The property can feel a bit complex to navigate at first, but staff are eager to help and will quickly escort you where you need to go. Early on I took a short-cut tour through the resort’s interior pathways, which made it easier to find the most direct routes to the beach and dining areas.
Overall, Trump International Beach Resort delivers a full resort experience. Its oceanfront location and well-appointed suites make it a comfortable choice for both short stays and longer visits when you want beach access and on-site amenities.
