Emirates Launches New Route: What Travelers Need to Know

Emirates has announced it will launch nonstop service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Khwaja Rawash Airport (KBL) in Kabul, Afghanistan, starting December 4. This new link to Afghanistan’s capital represents the airline’s first destination in the country.

The route will operate daily using Airbus A340-500 aircraft configured with 12 first class seats, 42 business class seats and 204 economy class seats. Emirates says the service responds to demand for a premium carrier connecting Dubai and Kabul, and will provide passengers with international connections through Dubai along with the airline’s recognized onboard product and service. The company also notes that its flights will offer the only first class cabin on the Dubai–Kabul pairing.

Barry Brown, divisional senior vice president of commercial operations east for Emirates, commented that the new route will enable travelers to access excellent global connections via Dubai while enjoying the airline’s award-winning service.

With Kabul added, Emirates’ network will expand to 138 destinations worldwide. This new service follows a series of recent route additions, including Clark, Philippines (CRK) from October 1; Conakry, Guinea (CKY) from October 27; and Sialkot, Pakistan (SKT) from November 5.
