Air Canada has moved its operations to London Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2, The Queen’s Terminal. This change gives Air Canada passengers improved connection options at Heathrow as Star Alliance partners consolidate into the new terminal. With more than 20 daily departures and arrivals, London Heathrow represents Air Canada’s largest international hub, and the move into a single terminal with other alliance members will streamline transfers and expand route choices across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said Benjamin Smith, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Air Canada.
The Queen’s Terminal opened earlier this month following a $3.8 billion redevelopment. The new facility features increased seating, modern passenger amenities, and a diverse range of shopping and dining options designed to improve the travel experience. Centralizing Star Alliance carriers in Terminal 2 is intended to reduce connection times and simplify onward travel for passengers connecting to partner airlines.
Air Canada’s presence at Terminal 2 supports better coordination with alliance partners, which should result in smoother transfers, clearer wayfinding and a more consistent experience for international travellers. The terminal’s upgraded infrastructure and passenger-focused services aim to handle high volumes efficiently while offering comfort and convenience for travellers awaiting departures or connections.
Passengers flying with Air Canada from Heathrow can expect access to the terminal’s expanded retail and food outlets, improved seating areas and enhanced customer facilities. The consolidation also benefits those connecting to European and regional flights, as carriers within the Star Alliance group increasingly operate from the same location, allowing for more seamless connections and greater schedule flexibility.
As airlines continue to adjust operations to the new terminal, travellers should check their flight details and terminal information before travelling to ensure they arrive at the correct location. The move highlights ongoing investments in airport infrastructure and airline partnerships aimed at improving global connectivity and passenger experience.
