The new Pro-Am tournament for 2016 will be held at The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, offering amateurs from around the world the opportunity to compete on the hotel’s celebrated championship golf courses and win prizes.
The Gleneagles International Pro-Am will take place July 5–8, 2016, across The King’s, Queen’s and the PGA Centenary Courses. Open to teams of four—three amateurs and one PGA Professional—the event features a total prize fund of approximately $26,800.
“We’re delighted to introduce this event to the 2016 golfing calendar,” said Gary Silcock, director of golf at The Gleneagles Hotel. “It gives players the chance to experience two of James Braid’s classic layouts—the King’s and Queen’s Courses—alongside the PGA Centenary Course, which hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup. Competitors will enjoy championship golf followed by warm Scottish hospitality in one of the UK’s most iconic luxury hotels.”
Organizers expect international visitors to use Gleneagles as a base to explore Scotland’s historic sites, whisky distilleries and additional top golf venues. Scheduled the week before The Open at Troon, the timing provides a convenient opportunity for competitors to extend their stay and experience the wider region.
Entry for a team of four is approximately $11,200 and includes four nights’ accommodation per player, a drinks reception and welcome dinner, packed lunches on tournament days, four rounds of golf, and a celebration dinner with prize presentation.
