MICE Events in Singapore: Venues, Services & Planning Guide

HOW LONG HAS SINGAPORE been the world’s leading MICE destination? You could trace its rise back to 1819, when Sir Stamford Raffles, a British statesman, recognized the strategic value of this island at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula and established a trading post after signing a treaty with the local ruler. From that moment, Singapore began transforming from a jungle-fringed backwater into a vital hub for trade and travel.

Raffles’s vision made the most of Singapore’s position at the head of the Strait of Malacca, where ships traveling between the Far East and Europe passed within sight. That strategic advantage continues to define Singapore today. Changi International Airport, frequently rated among the world’s best airports, is a major transit hub and a driver of tourism. Many transit visitors are converted into stopover travelers; the typical stay is around three days. Beyond stopovers, Singapore has grown into a premier destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), thanks to its clean, efficient and modern infrastructure and world-class facilities.

One notable venue honoring Singapore’s founder is the Raffles City Convention Centre, located on the fourth floor of the Raffles City hotel and shopping complex. The centre provides approximately 70,000 square feet of flexible function space, from theaters and ballrooms to intimate boardrooms, and sits opposite the historic Raffles Hotel.

Not far from Raffles City, Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre underwent a major refurbishment and today features a column-free main hall that can host up to 10,000 delegates, a 596-seat theatre and 31 meeting rooms. Suntec sits within a large downtown complex offering thousands of hotel rooms, extensive shopping and dining options, and an impressive entrance foyer centered on one of the world’s largest HD video walls.

The Sands Expo and Convention Centre is another landmark venue, adjoining the iconic three-tower Marina Bay Sands Hotel, famous for its rooftop infinity pool suspended above the city. The Sands Expo offers nearly 400,000 square feet of event space and about 250 meeting rooms, and it is within walking distance of attractions such as the Singapore Flyer and the Gardens by the Bay botanical park.

Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre, located near Changi Airport, provides the country’s largest event space and was recognized with the Best International Venue Award in 2016. Its main building includes nine large halls that can be combined to create close to 1 million square feet of exhibition area, while the adjoining Max Atria offers a range of smaller flexible spaces. The EXPO is easily accessible—one metro stop from the airport and a short drive from downtown.

Although Singapore is compact and well connected, Sentosa Island offers a change of scenery while remaining easy to reach by bridge and monorail. This resort island packs a variety of attractions into a small area. Resorts World Sentosa features Universal Studios, a water park and an aquarium, along with convention facilities that accommodate up to 6,000 attendees and a suite of meeting rooms and incentive programs tailored for smaller groups.

UNIQUE VENUES

Singapore’s MICE portfolio also includes distinctive venues that combine business with memorable experiences. A cluster of wildlife and nature attractions operated by Wildlife Reserves Singapore provides an unusual setting for corporate events. The group includes Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari and River Safari, together offering around 25 corporate event spaces for groups ranging from 15 to 15,000. Events here can include conferences, product launches, team-building activities and gala dinners set amid immersive natural environments and the sounds of wildlife.

Among these, the Singapore Zoo—established in 1973 and home to more than 300 species, including the world’s largest captive colony of orangutans—remains a major draw, attracting over a million visitors annually and offering customized corporate programs and venues that take full advantage of its lush, open-air design.

Gardens by the Bay, a more recent addition to Singapore’s attractions, has quickly become the country’s most visited site. This spectacular botanical garden near downtown is dominated by futuristic “supertrees” and offers several distinctive corporate event spaces. Silver Leaf, an outdoor lakeside lawn beneath the supertrees, provides a striking setting for large-scale receptions, dinners and incentive events, blending nature with cutting-edge design.

Together, these world-class convention centres, unique outdoor locations and creative venues make Singapore a versatile and compelling choice for international meetings, exhibitions and incentive travel, delivering convenience, innovation and unforgettable experiences for organizers and attendees alike.
