For the 11th consecutive year, Alaska Airlines ranks highest among Traditional Carriers in J.D. Power’s annual North American Airline Satisfaction Study, earning a score of 775 out of 1,000. The carrier has recently enhanced its onboard experience with additional complimentary movies, refreshed first class and main cabin menu items, and new craft beer and local wine selections.
Based in Seattle, Washington, Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest airline in the United States and serves more than 100 domestic destinations. It also transports more passengers between the state of Alaska and the contiguous U.S. than any other carrier.
J.D. Power calculates its satisfaction scores using seven categories: cost and fees, in-flight services, aircraft, boarding/deplaning/baggage, flight crew, check-in and reservations. The study’s methodology is published by J.D. Power, and its findings are based on responses from nearly 12,000 business and leisure travelers.
Delta Air Lines finished a close second, trailing Alaska by eight points. In the low-cost segment, Southwest Airlines retained the top position for a second consecutive year. Airline satisfaction rankings can be a useful reference for travelers when selecting carriers, comparing service features, or deciding whether to enroll in a loyalty program.
