Montage Hotels & Resorts is expanding its luxury collection with the addition of Montage Kapalua Bay. Montage will manage the property — formerly the site of the iconic Kapalua Bay Hotel and most recently The Residences at Kapalua Bay — on behalf of the resort’s ownership group.
Perched above Kapalua Bay on Maui’s northwest coast, the property will undergo a multi‑million dollar renovation to create a refined island resort experience. Plans call for 56 Montage‑branded residences alongside a 50‑room, all‑suite Montage hotel, designed to blend modern luxury with local character and scenic ocean views.
Montage Kapalua Bay will join Montage Laguna Beach, Montage Beverly Hills and Montage Deer Valley as part of the Montage portfolio. Each property shares a commitment to thoughtful design, attentive service and a sense of place.
“We are passionate about capturing the unique sense of spirit and place of the destinations in which we operate,” said Alan Fuerstman, founder and CEO of Montage Hotels & Resorts. “The aloha spirit of Maui and the graciousness of the Hawaiian people are a perfect complement to Montage’s style of service, and this resort is an ideal addition to our portfolio.”
Like other Montage properties, Montage Kapalua Bay will highlight local art and craftsmanship across its public spaces, culinary venues and spa. The resort experience will emphasize relaxation and rejuvenation while offering opportunities for cultural connection and activity, with details and programming that honor Hawaiian traditions and natural beauty.
Montage Hotels & Resorts will assume management of the property immediately. While the renovation program is underway, the resort will continue to operate on an interim basis as The Residences at Kapalua Bay to ensure service continuity for guests and owners.
