Thomson Airways Marks Major Milestone in Airline Growth

Thomson Airways, the first UK airline to receive the Boeing 787 Dreamliner earlier this year, is set to mark a milestone this month as it welcomes its 250,000th passenger on board the Dreamliner fleet. Since June, more than 240,000 people have flown on over 860 Thomson Dreamliner services departing the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, covering a mix of short-haul sectors and long-haul routes such as Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Orlando (SFB).

The airline will broaden its long-haul network this winter with new routes to Jamaica (MBJ), the Maldives (MLE), Thailand (HKT), Barbados (BGI), Kenya (MBA), multiple destinations in Cuba (HAV, HOG, SNU and VRA), Goa (GOI), and several locations in the Dominican Republic (LRM, POP, PUJ and AZS). These additions reflect Thomson’s ongoing expansion and focus on offering a wider range of holiday destinations using its modern Dreamliner fleet.

Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Service at Thomson Airways, said the airline is delighted to reach the 250,000-passenger milestone and to introduce new long-haul destinations. He noted that the company has worked to modernize its holiday offering and that the 787 Dreamliner has played a central role in enhancing the travel experience. Customers flying on the Dreamliner this summer have provided positive feedback about the aircraft’s quieter cabin, improved air quality and overall comfort, all of which have contributed to strong satisfaction scores.

The Dreamliner has allowed Thomson to operate more efficiently while providing passengers with a more comfortable journey, making longer flights more enjoyable. These benefits are particularly important as the airline opens new routes and increases capacity to popular holiday locations. Thomson’s continued investment in modern aircraft highlights their commitment to improving both operational performance and the passenger experience.

With the winter schedule introducing a broader route map, passengers can expect the same enhanced onboard experience as Thomson grows its Dreamliner operations. The expanded destinations give holidaymakers more choice for long-haul travel, while the airline focuses on maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction as passenger numbers rise.
