United Airlines and Chase Launch Credit Card for Leisure Travelers

The no-annual-fee United TravelBank Card delivers useful travel-focused features and a simple rewards structure: 2% back on United purchases and 1.5% back on all other purchases, both issued as TravelBank cash that can be redeemed toward United flights.

Unlike many standard cash-back cards, the United TravelBank Card charges no foreign transaction fees and includes a suite of travel protections such as trip cancellation and interruption insurance and auto rental coverage. Cardholders also receive 25% back as a statement credit on food and beverage purchases made on United flights, plus access to exclusive Chase Inside Access experiences.

New cardmembers can earn a $150 TravelBank cash bonus after spending $1,000 within the first three months of account opening.

Leslie Gillin, president of co-brand cards at Chase, noted that consumer demand for straightforward cash-back products is rising and that the new card fills a gap for United customers: a no-annual-fee option that combines the ease of cash-back rewards with seamless travel redemptions. “Our research shows leisure travelers value the simplicity of a cash-back card paired with easy ways to use rewards for travel,” Gillin said.

Praveen Sharma, vice president of loyalty at United, emphasized the card’s role in simplifying savings on United flights. “The United TravelBank Card introduces a new way for customers to apply TravelBank cash toward the cost of a ticket,” Sharma said. He also highlighted the long-standing relationship between United and Chase: the launch marks 30 years of collaboration on co-brand card programs and expands their portfolio with an option tailored to cash-back-minded customers alongside United’s MileagePlus credit card lineup.

Overall, the United TravelBank Card targets travelers who want straightforward rewards and travel protections without an annual fee. With competitive earn rates on United purchases, a modest earn rate on other spending, travel-focused benefits, and an introductory bonus, it aims to be a practical choice for frequent United flyers and occasional travelers who prefer redeeming cash-equivalent rewards directly toward airfare.
