French Blue Launches Low-Cost Flights from Europe to the Caribbean

Europe is getting a new budget carrier that will offer low-cost flights to the Caribbean. French travel group Groupe Dubreuil announced the launch of a new airline, French Blue, which will begin service later this year between Paris Orly Airport and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The carrier plans to expand service to other Caribbean islands in the months that follow.

French Blue will be France’s first low-cost, long-haul airline, joining a growing number of European budget carriers that have entered the international market, including Norwegian Air and WOW Air. The airline’s fares are designed to be a fraction of traditional carriers’ prices while still including core services: meals and one checked bag will be part of the standard fare, and onboard WiFi will be available for an additional fee.

For its long-haul operations, French Blue intends to use Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft, modern widebody jets suited for transatlantic routes. The choice of these aircraft reflects the airline’s focus on efficiency and passenger comfort on longer flights.

Looking ahead, French Blue has signaled ambitions to broaden its network beyond the Caribbean. The airline has indicated potential plans to add long-haul routes to destinations such as Mauritius and Réunion in the Indian Ocean, depending on market demand and regulatory approvals.

With this new entrant, travelers from France and neighboring countries can expect more affordable options for transatlantic leisure travel, greater competition on popular holiday routes, and an expanding roster of direct flights between Europe and island destinations. The combination of low base fares, included baggage and meals, and optional onboard connectivity aims to appeal to budget-conscious passengers seeking an economical way to reach tropical destinations.
