Emirates Expands U.S. Routes With New Flights and Destinations

Emirates will expand its presence in the United States by increasing capacity to San Francisco and Houston. Beginning Dec. 1 to San Francisco International Airport and Dec. 3 to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the carrier will replace Boeing 777-300ER equipment with its double-deck Airbus A380 on these routes. This change adds 135 seats to the San Francisco service and 137 seats to the Houston service, representing roughly a 38 percent increase in overall passenger capacity and about an 80 percent increase in premium-cabin seating.

The A380 features Emirates’ premium onboard offerings, including 14 private first-class suites, 76 lie-flat business-class seats, two first-class shower spas and an upper-deck lounge. These amenities are designed to enhance the travel experience for passengers on long-haul routes and support growing demand for premium travel between the U.S. and destinations across the Middle East, India and Africa.

“Emirates continues to see strong customer demand from our U.S. gateways. Since 2007, we have carried over 2.3 million passengers on the San Francisco and Houston routes, and our flagship A380 will allow us to connect even more people and facilitate trade between these important U.S. cities and the Middle East, India, Africa and beyond,” said Hubert Frach, divisional senior vice president of commercial operations west for Emirates. The switch to A380 aircraft on these routes reflects the airline’s strategy to match capacity with demand while offering an elevated onboard product.

With the addition of San Francisco and Houston, Emirates will operate A380 services to five U.S. gateways: New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The move supports stronger connectivity between those U.S. markets and Emirates’ global network, benefiting both leisure and business travelers as well as trade flows.

Emirates’ decision to deploy A380s on these routes underscores continued growth in transcontinental travel and rising demand for premium-class services. Passengers can expect increased availability of premium seats and the distinctive on-board features that characterize the airline’s A380 product, including private suites, spacious lie-flat seating and social spaces for longer flights.
