Pendry Hotels, a luxury hospitality brand that evolved from Montage Hotels & Resorts, introduced its first two properties earlier this year.
The initial openings — Pendry San Diego and Sagamore Pendry Baltimore — position the brand between lifestyle and luxury. By offering stylish accommodations at lower rates than Montage properties, Pendry appeals to a younger, design-conscious traveler. Average nightly rates are roughly $300 in San Diego and about $400 in Baltimore, compared with Montage properties that often average closer to $600.
Both hotels emphasize a blend of modern amenities and locally inspired design. Sagamore Pendry Baltimore takes full advantage of its waterfront setting with outdoor dining and event areas, a private dock, and three on-site restaurants serving elevated cuisine. The hotel’s interiors draw on Baltimore’s maritime heritage — guest rooms incorporate brass, wood accents, and cabin-like details to evoke a connection with the harbor and the city’s history.
Pendry San Diego presents a more urban, city-centric experience. Highlights include a rooftop pool with city views, convenient access to the airport and convention center, and contemporary design touches that reflect San Diego’s energetic downtown atmosphere.
Both properties focus on creating immersive stays that reflect their neighborhoods. Public spaces, dining concepts, and room designs aim to honor local history and culture so guests feel a meaningful connection to each destination rather than a generic hotel experience.
Looking ahead, Pendry plans to expand its footprint in California with two additional properties. The brand has slated openings in La Quinta and West Hollywood in the coming years, continuing its strategy of combining accessible luxury, thoughtful design, and localized programming.
