Denver’s annual Grand Illumination has returned, lighting up the downtown core with more than 600,000 colorful bulbs stretching from Union Station’s façade to Civic Center Park, including Skyline Park, the D&F Tower and the length of the 16th Street Mall. Each evening through New Year’s Day, the Botanic Gardens glows with over a million lights arranged in intricate patterns for the Blossoms of Light display. Select nights feature live performances that enhance the holiday atmosphere. The Orangery and Marnie’s Pavilion remain open after dark, and the amphitheater’s light displays are synchronized to popular holiday music for a festive experience.
Through Jan. 5, Denver Zoo Lights transforms 38 acres of the zoo with seasonal illumination. The event includes warming stations offering holiday treats, and more than 150 animated animal sculptures that add playful, zoo-themed charm. Complementing the main lighting display, the Zoo Lights Lantern Festival is showcased in the Toyota Elephant Passage, which is home to Asian elephants, clouded leopards, flying foxes, fishing cats and a Greater one-horned rhinoceros.
These seasonal attractions offer family-friendly options for evening outings, combining large-scale light installations with live entertainment, themed sculptures and food stations to make holiday visits comfortable and memorable. Whether you stroll along the 16th Street Mall to take in the urban illuminations, visit the Botanic Gardens for synchronized music and light, or explore the zoo’s lantern festival, Denver’s holiday lights present a variety of experiences across the city through the winter season.
