Garuda Indonesia Adds New Aircraft to Expand Fleet

Garuda Indonesia has expanded its long-haul fleet with the addition of a new Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft is configured with eight first class seats, 38 business class seats and 268 economy seats, and is currently deployed on the Jakarta (CGK) to Jeddah (JED) service. Alongside the delivery, the airline introduced a dedicated first-class product for its passengers.

Emirsyah Satar, president and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, described the new aircraft as a milestone for the carrier. He noted that the Boeing 777-300ER raises standards for quality and value on direct long-haul routes and supports Garuda’s continued expansion of its global network. The launch of the first-class cabin represents a further step in elevating the airline’s service offering.

Garuda’s order includes 10 Boeing 777-300ERs in total. Four of those aircraft are scheduled for delivery this year, and Garuda plans to deploy two additional 777-300ERs on the Sydney (SYD)–Jakarta–London Gatwick (LGW) routing in November. The remaining six aircraft are expected to enter the fleet across 2014 and 2015, supporting Garuda’s growth on long-haul international routes.

The new first-class cabin provides a premium option for travelers on selected long-haul flights, complementing the airline’s existing business and economy offerings. With this fleet refresh and service enhancement, Garuda Indonesia aims to compete more effectively on intercontinental routes while offering passengers higher comfort and more choices in cabin class.
