Wizz Air Introduces Flexible Ticketing: Change Flights Without Fees

Wizz Air has launched a flexible ticketing option that lets customers reserve seats without providing all passenger names at the time of booking. Called the Flexible Travel Partner service, it is offered for an additional €10 per passenger per flight and allows a single reservation to include up to 10 travellers. At booking, only one passenger needs to be named; the remaining passenger details can be added any time up to three hours before the scheduled departure.

The airline says the service is “designed for customers who want to book their trip securing low cost fares well in advance, yet are uncertain who their travel partners will be.”

George Michalopoulos, Wizz Air’s chief commercial officer, explained the motivation behind the product: “Flexibility is becoming increasingly important when planning both business and leisure trips. With our new Flexible Travel Partner service customers can leave the decision of who to travel with up until the last minute, while in the meanwhile securing the lowest possible fares. We continue to monitor consumer preferences and build products catered to their every need.”

This service aims to help travellers who need to lock in low fares early but may not yet know the full passenger list. By allowing the lead passenger to reserve seats immediately and add companions later, Wizz Air hopes to reduce the pressure on group organisers and provide more convenient, cost-effective planning for both short-haul and longer journeys.

Key features of the Flexible Travel Partner service include:

  • Availability for bookings of up to 10 passengers under a single reservation.
  • An additional fee of €10 per passenger per flight to enable flexible naming.
  • The ability to add unnamed passengers’ personal details up to three hours before departure.
  • Immediate confirmation of the booking and fare price for the named lead passenger.

For travellers who frequently arrange group travel—whether for work, family events, or leisure—the option offers a balance between securing low fares and preserving last-minute flexibility. It also helps businesses and individuals plan trips without having to delay booking until all participants are confirmed.

By introducing this option, Wizz Air joins a broader trend in the aviation industry toward more adaptable booking models that respond to changing consumer behaviour. Flexible naming policies reduce friction for customers and can lower the risk of losing promotional fares when passenger lists are still in flux.

Passengers considering this service should check Wizz Air’s terms and conditions for any restrictions or operational requirements, such as identity verification procedures or deadlines for adding passenger details. The three-hour cut-off for adding names is intended to align with check-in and boarding processes while still offering significant flexibility compared with traditional booking rules.

Overall, the Flexible Travel Partner service provides a straightforward solution for travellers who want to secure competitive fares early while keeping their group composition open until closer to departure. It simplifies the booking process for groups and can be particularly useful in situations where final participant lists are uncertain until the last moment.
