Finnair has announced plans to open a new premium lounge at Helsinki Airport in spring 2014. Located near Gate 36 in the non‑Schengen area, the new lounge is designed to complement the existing Finnair Lounge and to better serve the airline’s most frequent and loyal guests.
The facility will welcome Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold members and their guests, along with frequent‑flyer cardholders who hold equivalent status with other oneworld member airlines. The lounge aims to provide a calm, comfortable environment for travellers looking to relax, refresh and prepare for their flights.
Key features include private shower suites for refreshing between flights, a traditional Finnish sauna that reflects local culture, and an exclusive duty‑free shopping area. The design concept highlights Finland’s strengths in art and design and seeks to evoke the clarity and serenity of the country’s natural landscapes.
“We are eagerly looking forward to opening a new lounge for our most frequent and loyal guests to keep up with burgeoning demand for our world‑class lounge facilities,” said Markku Remes, manager of lounge and VIP services for Finnair. He added that the expanded environment will offer passengers the opportunity for relaxation and refreshment while showcasing Finnish design and hospitality.
The new lounge is part of Finnair’s broader efforts to enhance the passenger experience at Helsinki Airport, reinforcing the airport’s role as an international hub. The opening will provide additional capacity and premium amenities to accommodate growing demand among premium travellers, business passengers and oneworld frequent flyers.
Finnair, which is marking its 90th anniversary, serves more than 70 destinations across the globe. The airline continues to invest in airport services, onboard products and partnerships to strengthen its network and improve the travel experience at every stage of the journey.
