Delta Air Lines is expanding its Delta Shuttle service on the West Coast by introducing larger aircraft on selected flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Beginning in June, the airline will operate Boeing 717 aircraft on eight of the 15 daily nonstop rotations between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO), increasing seat capacity on those hourly shuttle departures by roughly 40 percent.
Delta’s mainline Boeing 717s seat 110 passengers and offer First Class and Economy Comfort sections, as well as power outlets available at every seat. The remaining seven daily shuttle flights on the Los Angeles–San Francisco route will continue to be operated by Delta Connection partner Compass Airlines, using 76-seat Embraer A175 aircraft.
Passengers traveling on the Delta Shuttle between Los Angeles and San Francisco benefit from service tailored for frequent, short-haul trips. Dedicated check-in counters allow travelers to check in as late as 30 minutes before departure, and shuttle gates are located conveniently close to security checkpoints. Onboard amenities include complimentary newspapers, free snacks, and complimentary beverages during the flight, with craft beer and wine available in all classes of service.
By deploying larger 717 aircraft on select shuttle frequencies, Delta aims to improve capacity and comfort for customers on one of the busiest short-haul markets on the West Coast while maintaining the convenience and amenities that define the Delta Shuttle experience.
