Francis Ford Coppola Winery WineLab Experience Adds New Tour Dates

A few months ago, Francis Ford Coppola Winery launched an interactive tasting called Coppola WineLab. This hands-on experience takes visitors beyond a typical tasting by inviting wine lovers to participate in the winemaking process. Guests sample several variations of the same wine, each crafted with a deliberate difference. These experimental pours are still in development and are not part of the winery’s standard tastings.

Each sample highlights a specific technique or decision in the cellar: different oak types for aging, alternative fermentation approaches, or grapes harvested at varying levels of ripeness. By tasting side-by-side, guests can detect how those choices shape aroma, mouthfeel and finish.

During the tasting, participants record their impressions on an iPad—rating flavor, perceived aging influence, balance between vineyard characteristics, and overall preference. That feedback is collected and used by the winemaking team when refining the final blends, so visitors effectively become contributors to the creative process.

New Coppola WineLab dates have been added through the end of 2025: Sept. 18–19, Oct. 16–17, Nov. 20–21, and Dec. 18–19. The sessions run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., are complimentary for guests, operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and last approximately 15–20 minutes.

This approachable, educational format appeals to both curious newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts. Participants gain insight into the stages and choices that shape a finished wine, while the winery benefits from direct consumer responses that inform future releases. If you’re planning a visit, arrive early to secure a spot and experience how tasting and feedback can influence the wines you enjoy.
