Corinthia Hotels Acquires Prime Brussels Property for Expansion

Corinthia Hotels announced the acquisition of the historic Hotel Astoria in Brussels last month. The property will be rebranded as the Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria and will feature 121 guestrooms and suites, a selection of dining venues and a full-service spa.

Originally constructed in 1909 at the behest of King Leopold II, the Hotel Astoria has welcomed numerous notable guests over the years. After a decade of remaining closed, the building will now undergo a sensitive restoration and redevelopment under Corinthia’s stewardship.

“We have earned an unparalleled reputation for restoring buildings of historical value and transforming them into luxury hotels. The Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria will be no exception,” said Alfred Pisani, chairman of Corinthia Hotels. “We intend to make this hotel one of the finest in Brussels, applying the same passion and attention to detail that guided our redevelopments in London, Budapest, St. Petersburg and other major cities. We have full confidence in Brussels and are proud to have acquired such a jewel in the heart of Europe.”

The redevelopment plan will preserve the hotel’s historic façade and the character of the ground floor, while reconstructing the upper levels to modern standards. A modest extension is also planned to accommodate additional facilities and improve guest flow, ensuring the building meets contemporary expectations without compromising its architectural heritage.

When complete, the Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria will combine restored historic features with contemporary luxury, offering refined accommodation, curated dining options and wellness amenities that reflect Corinthia’s signature service standards. The project underscores Corinthia’s commitment to revitalizing landmark properties and contributing to the cultural and hospitality fabric of major cities.
