The Osprey at Beaver Creek, Colorado — Luxury RockResort Stay

Arrival/Check-In: My arrival at Beaver Creek was memorable — after flying into Vail/Eagle Airport I transferred by private helicopter to the resort. From the helipad at the base of the mountain I was driven in a sleek black SUV to The Osprey’s understated entrance. The lobby is compact, with the concierge desk to the right beside the elevator and reception to the left. A few steps lead up to a dining area and a cozy sitting space with comfortable seating and a fireplace. The boutique hotel has just three floors, which adds to its intimate feel. Check-in was efficient and I was in my second-floor superior room within minutes. That quick welcome was appreciated after rising at 3 a.m. EST to catch my early flight to Colorado.

Guest Quarters: The guestroom felt calm and spacious at first glance. A small vestibule opens into the room, with closets immediately to the right and the bathroom to the left. The bathroom is partially open to the entryway and bedroom, so there is no full dividing door; this open layout contributes to the sense of space. The bathing area is long, featuring a generous vanity with two sinks and shelving below for amenities and the coffeemaker. Opposite the vanity are a separate toilet closet and a stall shower. The bedroom contains a king-sized bed with nightstands on either side. A long table opposite the bed functions as both an armoire and a desk — not a formal office, but perfectly serviceable for spreading out work and charging electronics. A television is mounted above the work surface, and beneath the window sits a sofa and table with a great view of a nearby chairlift and ski slope. The in-room fireplace provided welcome warmth, and I found myself keeping it on whenever I returned to the room. I also appreciated the complimentary glass water bottles, which felt eco-conscious and kept water cooler longer.

Services/Amenities: After checking in I ordered room service for lunch. The recently refreshed menu had many tempting choices; I chose the mesquite turkey and melted Brie club. Another afternoon I tried the strawberry and avocado salad, which was fresh and satisfying. Mornings feature a buffet with pastries, cereals and breads alongside hot options such as eggs and pancakes. The on-site Osprey Lounge is intimate and feels like an extension of the main seating area; it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Complimentary coffee and tea are available in the mornings, while skiers can enjoy hot chocolate and snacks in the afternoons.

The hotel’s standout advantage is its proximity to the slopes — The Osprey is the closest hotel in North America to a chairlift. After breakfast guests can collect gear from the lobby-level storage closet and be on the slopes within minutes. The location also provides easy access to the rest of Beaver Creek Village, with shops, restaurants, ski school, additional lifts and ice skating all nearby.

The Experience: The Osprey’s cozy, intimate atmosphere suits the resort perfectly, evoking the warmth of a traditional ski cabin or slopeside lodge. Its unbeatable location, comfortable guestrooms and thoughtful amenities make it an excellent choice for skiers and those seeking a relaxed mountain escape.
