JetBlue Launches New Transcontinental Flights Between Major U.S. Cities

JetBlue has launched a new transcontinental route linking New York’s JFK Airport and Ontario International Airport (ONT) in California. This marks JetBlue’s tenth destination in California. Ontario International serves roughly 6 million passengers annually and is located in one of the state’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.

“The Golden State has been an important part of the JetBlue story since our earliest days of flying and that’s still the case today as we continue to grow in Southern California,” said Rob Land, senior vice president of government affairs and associate general counsel for JetBlue. “Ontario service brings our award-winning JetBlue experience and great fares to one of the fastest growing regions of the country where travelers are eager to take to the skies with us.”

Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, welcomed the return of JetBlue’s nonstop service to New York: “This is a great day for our airport and region as we welcome back JetBlue and its nonstop service to New York. Their return has been highly anticipated by business and leisure travelers and shows that Ontario is the place to be in Southern California aviation, with our first-rate facilities, hassle-free experience and extraordinary customer base.”

The new service is part of broader network enhancements intended to meet rising coast-to-coast demand. JetBlue currently serves more California cities with nonstop service to New York than any other carrier, and transcontinental routes represent about 15 percent of the airline’s total flights.

JetBlue will operate the JFK–ONT route using Airbus A320 aircraft. Passengers can expect JetBlue’s standard onboard amenities, including complimentary snacks and in-flight entertainment, maintaining the carrier’s focus on comfort and value for both leisure and business travelers.

Ontario International’s strategic location in the Inland Empire, combined with its growing passenger base and upgraded facilities, makes it a convenient alternative to some of Southern California’s larger airports. The addition of nonstop service to New York enhances connectivity for residents and businesses in the region, reduces travel time compared with connecting itineraries, and supports increased economic and tourism activity.

For travelers, the new nonstop option offers greater flexibility and competitive fares on a coast-to-coast route. Frequent flyers and occasional travelers alike can benefit from a direct connection between Southern California and the New York metropolitan area, whether for work, family visits, or leisure trips.

As demand for domestic travel continues to rebound, airlines are expanding routes that link major metropolitan areas. JetBlue’s renewed focus on Southern California, highlighted by the Ontario route, underscores the airline’s strategy to grow its footprint where passenger demand and regional development are strong.

Passengers planning to fly the new route should check JetBlue’s official site or the Ontario International Airport schedule for current flight times and availability, and review any travel advisories or airport procedures before departure.
