Starwood Hotels & Resorts is expanding its environmentally conscious Element brand with its first hotel in the Netherlands. Scheduled to open in November 2015, Element Amsterdam will be situated at Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam’s lively Zuid district, just south of the city center. The property will feature 160 bright studios and one-bedroom suites designed for comfortable, extended stays.
Guest rooms will showcase a clean, modular design with multifunctional furniture, swiveling flat-screen televisions, generous work desks with open shelving, and custom closets. Bathrooms are spa-inspired with rain showers, and each accommodation will include a fully equipped, energy-efficient kitchen. These features aim to deliver a residential feel and practical convenience for longer-stay visitors.
Onsite amenities will include a 24-hour fitness center, two meeting rooms, and a signature restaurant and bar open throughout the day. The hotel’s blend of sustainable operations and residential-style accommodations is intended to appeal to travelers seeking both affordability and thoughtful design.
“With Element now established in Europe, we’re seeing growing interest from guests and owners across the continent, where there is strong demand for affordable, innovative hotel brands,” said Michael Wale, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “Element’s spacious studio-style rooms and added kitchen facilities offer a whole-living experience that suits longer-stay travelers.”
Since its launch in 2008, Element has been expanding steadily. The brand plans to more than double its global portfolio within two years and aims to operate over 30 hotels by the end of 2017. Upcoming openings include Element London Tobacco Dock, part of a combined Aloft and Element development, and Element Suzhou Science and Technology Town, which will mark the brand’s debut in the Asia Pacific region.
