The Langham Hospitality Group has begun construction on The Langham, Venice, a major restoration and conversion of the historic Casino Mocenigo and an adjacent Murano glass factory on the island of Murano. The development will transform these historic structures into a luxury resort that celebrates Venetian heritage while offering contemporary comforts.
Slated to open in 2026, The Langham, Venice will feature 133 rooms, including 30 suites, and will be positioned directly on the Venetian Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Matteo Thun & Partners, working from Milan and Munich, will lead the restoration, preserving original 16th-century frescoes from the casino and sensitively redeveloping the 20th-century industrial glassworks.

“The Langham, Venice is an integral part of Langham Hospitality Group’s global strategic expansion,” said Brett Butcher, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group. The project marks a transition from concept to construction and reflects the brand’s intent to introduce its signature service and design in a city of immense cultural significance.
The restoration will maintain the original façades of the former glass furnace buildings, including exposed wooden trusses, while introducing contemporary amenities. The hotel will offer a mix of indoor and alfresco dining, plus an exclusive rooftop bar. Event facilities will include two distinct venues for social and corporate gatherings: one overlooking the lagoon and another centered on the property’s courtyard, with flexible indoor and outdoor spaces.

Guests can expect signature Langham traditions, including the hotel’s celebrated afternoon tea, a ritual that traces back to The Langham, London in 1865. The resort will also feature a private cooking school where visitors can learn Venetian techniques and recipes to enjoy during their stay or take home as lasting memories.
The restored complex will enclose a private central courtyard with a pool—a rare offering in Venice—serving as the resort’s social and visual heart. In addition, architects have planned a secluded, grassy garden anchored by a 65-foot pool. This pool will function as a daytime swimming area and a dramatically lit setting for evening cocktails and events.
