Marriott Hotels is expanding its presence in Ecuador with the addition of a third property scheduled to open in 2016. The new Guayaquil Marriott will offer 202 guest rooms and will be situated in the heart of Los Arcos, a sought-after neighborhood within walking distance of the city’s best shopping, dining and entertainment options. The hotel will include a full-service restaurant, a rooftop bar, a concierge lounge, a marketplace, a business center, an outdoor swimming pool and generous meeting and event facilities.
The Guayaquil Marriott joins two existing Marriott properties in Ecuador: the 257-room JW Marriott Quito and the 135-room Courtyard by Marriott Guayaquil. This expansion strengthens Marriott’s footprint in the country and provides additional accommodation options for both business and leisure travelers visiting Guayaquil.
“This is a very exciting time for Marriott in Latin America — we recently announced our goal to double our portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2017 and are thrilled to now be expanding our portfolio in Ecuador with our new partners,” said Craig Smith, president, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International. “With this project, not only are we bringing more hotel rooms to the Ecuadorian market, but doing so in a vibrant city like Guayaquil which is experiencing strong growth in business and leisure tourism.”
The new hotel’s central location in Los Arcos positions it well for guests seeking convenient access to Guayaquil’s commercial centers and cultural attractions. With amenities designed to serve corporate events, leisure stays and social gatherings, the Guayaquil Marriott aims to meet diverse traveler needs while contributing to the area’s tourism development.
By adding modern guest rooms, dining venues and flexible event space, Marriott intends to offer a competitive new option for travelers to Guayaquil. The planned rooftop bar and outdoor pool will provide leisure-focused amenities, while the business center and meeting rooms will support conferences and corporate functions. The marketplace concept is expected to offer casual dining and grab-and-go options for guests on the move.
As Marriott continues its regional growth strategy, the Guayaquil property represents a targeted investment in a city with rising demand from both domestic and international visitors. The hotel is expected to complement existing offerings and broaden the range of accommodations available through Marriott’s brands in Ecuador.
