Air New Zealand will expand capacity on the Auckland (AKL) to San Francisco (SFO) route later this year to meet rising demand. Beginning mid-December, the airline will increase frequency from a single daily service to 10 flights per week, adding a second daily rotation on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Cam Wallace, Air New Zealand’s chief sales and commercial officer, said the revised schedule offers customers greater choice and more convenient travel options. “The new timings, which differ from our usual long-haul evening departures, provide passengers with added flexibility about when they fly and improve connection possibilities, particularly to East Coast destinations such as New York and Washington,” he said.
The carrier attributes the capacity boost to fleet expansion. Two new Boeing 777-300 aircraft joining the fleet midyear will support growth on the San Francisco route and allow Air New Zealand to restore 17 weekly services to Los Angeles during peak periods.
These changes are aimed at accommodating increased passenger demand and enhancing connectivity through strategic scheduling and additional aircraft. Travelers can expect more options for transpacific travel and improved opportunities for onward connections across the United States.
