Open-air cinemas are a summer favorite, offering the chance to watch classic and contemporary films under the stars in scenic settings. Screenings take place at lakeside locations, along the Limmat and in historic courtyards such as the Swiss National Museum. Each June, just before Art Basel, the city hosts the Zurich Art Weekend, a three-day celebration featuring more than 50 exhibitions and roughly 200 events across the city. Zürich Pride Festival is a long-standing annual event that brings together supporters and members of the LGBTQIA+ community for concerts, performances and the city’s colorful parade. Züri Fäscht, Switzerland’s largest festival, takes place every three years and draws huge crowds to the banks of the Limmat. Over several days, visitors enjoy street food and culinary specialties, live music across multiple stages and spectacular fireworks displays that light up the night sky. It’s a true citywide celebration.
Every August, the Street Parade attracts electronic music fans from around the world for one of the planet’s biggest techno events. With dozens of love mobiles, hundreds of DJs and multiple stages arranged around the Lake Zürich basin, the parade creates an energetic, inclusive atmosphere that pulses through the city.
Zürich Openair is the city’s largest open-air music festival, presenting more than 80 international acts across several days. The lineup typically mixes rock, pop and electronic headliners with emerging artists, offering a broad musical program in a festival setting that draws music lovers from near and far.

Dörflifäscht, held on the last weekend of August, is a neighborhood festival that combines family-friendly daytime activities with lively evening performances. The streets fill with live bands, DJs and food stalls, creating a warm, communal atmosphere that celebrates local culture and cuisine.
