Emirates has unveiled a refurbished cabin design for its Boeing 777-200LR fleet, introducing a number of passenger-focused upgrades across both business and economy classes. The reconfiguration features a 2-2-2 seating layout in business class, with a total of 38 business-class seats and 264 economy seats per aircraft. Business-class seats are two inches wider than previous versions and are presented in a refreshed color palette that modernizes the cabin ambiance.
Business-class passengers will benefit from a range of enhanced amenities designed for comfort and convenience. Each seat includes touchscreen control panels for personalized adjustments, larger in-flight entertainment screens, and individual lighting. New electronic window shades replace traditional pull-down blinds, while privacy panels create a more secluded environment. Additional thoughtful touches include shoe storage, a footrest, a personal minibar, and a dedicated social area offering self-service snacks and beverages.
Economy class has also been refreshed with the updated color scheme and improved seat features. Economy seats now incorporate full leather headrests and adjustable headrest panels to better support passengers on long-haul journeys, delivering an upgraded feel without sacrificing capacity.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will be the first destination to receive the refurbished 777-200LR, marking the aircraft’s debut on Emirates’ Fort Lauderdale route. The airline plans an extensive investment to modernize its existing fleet: more than $150 million will be spent refurbishing 10 Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
“Emirates will invest over $150 million to refresh the 10 existing 777-200LR aircraft in its fleet. We’re very pleased to bring the first of our newly renovated 777-200LR aircraft to Fort Lauderdale, enabling Floridians and sun-seekers alike to experience the ultimate luxury during long-haul flights,” said Matthias Schmid, senior vice president, North America, Emirates. He added that Fort Lauderdale is Emirates’ second destination in Florida after Orlando, and that the refreshed cabin underlines the airline’s commitment to providing a distinctive product and award-winning service between South Florida, Dubai and onward to more than 150 global destinations.
Airport officials welcomed the upgrade. “Once again, Emirates has put its customers first with the reconfiguration of its Boeing 777 to enhance the customer experience. Congratulations to one of the world’s premier airlines and its continued success and growth at FLL,” said Mark Gale, CEO and director of aviation at Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
The cabin refresh emphasizes comfort, technology and passenger choice. Wider business-class seats and enhanced entertainment systems cater to premium travelers seeking space and personalized service, while upgraded economy seating and headrests aim to improve comfort on long-distance flights. By deploying the first refurbished 777-200LR to Fort Lauderdale, Emirates signals a broader upgrade program that prioritizes consistent service quality and a modern onboard experience across its long-haul network.
