Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Hosn Festival delivers an engaging cultural program with guided tours, public events and internationally acclaimed performances and exhibitions.
Running from Feb. 20 to March 1, the festival is hosted at the site of Abu Dhabi’s oldest structure. Qasr Al Hosn dates back to the late 18th century and stands as a living link to the city’s past.
“Qasr Al Hosn represents the foundation of the nation’s capital and symbolizes more than two and a half centuries of Emirati heritage and cultural development,” said Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority. “Qasr Al Hosn Festival is an annual opportunity to celebrate this magnificent national monument and iconic symbol of Abu Dhabi’s proud history and identity and to engage our community in the development of Qasr Al Hosn restoration program.”
He added that the festival’s public program reflects the authority’s broad cultural vision, which values both tangible and intangible heritage. The event supports preservation of architectural and archaeological assets while promoting visual and performing arts, literature and poetry that celebrate Emirati identity.
The festival offers visitors a mix of activities suitable for families, cultural enthusiasts and international guests. Expect curated exhibitions, live performances, educational workshops, heritage demonstrations and expert-led tours that explore the fort’s history, restoration work and the traditions that shaped Abu Dhabi.
By combining conservation with contemporary cultural programming, Qasr Al Hosn Festival creates a platform where history is actively interpreted and shared. Visitors can trace the evolution of the emirate through displays and storytelling, and experience traditional crafts, music and oral histories presented by local artists and heritage practitioners.
Qasr Al Hosn’s restoration program is a central focus during the festival, with opportunities to learn about archaeological findings, conservation techniques and the ongoing efforts to preserve the site for future generations. The festival encourages public participation in heritage appreciation through interactive sessions and family-friendly activities designed to spark curiosity and pride in local culture.
In addition to heritage-focused events, the festival features contemporary artistic commissions and performances that dialogue with the fort’s history, creating a dynamic cultural encounter. Literature readings, poetry recitals and visual art displays complement the historic setting and highlight the continuing relevance of Emirati cultural expression.
Visitors are advised to check the festival schedule for specific events, guided-tour times and any special programs tailored for children or those with accessibility needs.
