Air France Launches New Direct Flights: Routes, Dates & Details

Air France has inaugurated a new route connecting Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), marking the airline’s fifth destination in Southeast Asia. The service operates three times weekly using Boeing 777-200 aircraft configured with 246 seats across four cabins: 4 first class seats, 48 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats and 170 economy class seats.

The addition of Kuala Lumpur strengthens Air France’s network in the Asia-Pacific region and reflects growing demand for travel between Europe and Southeast Asia. The route supports both leisure and business travel, offering passengers access to France’s extensive onward connections through Paris, as well as improved linkages for Malaysian travelers heading to Europe and beyond.

Alexandre de Juniac, chairman and CEO of Air France at the time of the launch, highlighted the strategic rationale: the robust economic relationship between France and Malaysia, the rising rate of economic activity in the region, and Malaysia’s appeal as a tourist destination. These factors combine to make Kuala Lumpur an attractive city for expanding Air France and KLM’s presence in Southeast Asia.

The three-times-weekly schedule provides flexibility for passengers while allowing the airline to match capacity to demand as the market develops. The Boeing 777-200 used on the route is a long-haul twin-engine jet known for its range and operational efficiency, enabling non-stop connectivity between Paris and Kuala Lumpur.

In cabin terms, travelers can choose from a premium-first class experience to more affordable economy seating. The four first-class seats offer a high level of comfort and personalized service for premium travelers. Business class provides enhanced privacy and amenities for long-haul business travelers, while premium economy offers extra legroom and improved services compared with the main cabin. Economy class delivers standard long-haul seating suitable for customers seeking competitive fares.

Adding Kuala Lumpur also complements Air France’s broader strategy in the region, where the airline aims to balance network growth with sustainability and efficiency. By deploying appropriately sized aircraft and a measured flight frequency, the carrier can serve demand while managing operational costs and environmental impacts.

Passengers connecting through Paris benefit from streamlined transfer options and access to Air France’s global route network. At the same time, the route supports tourism between France and Malaysia, providing European travelers with easier access to Malaysia’s cultural attractions and natural destinations.

Overall, the launch of the CDG–KUL service represents a deliberate step in Air France’s expansion across Southeast Asia, offering new travel options for passengers and reinforcing commercial ties between the two countries.
