Star Alliance Debuts Exclusive Los Angeles Lounge — What to Know

The new Star Alliance lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) opened on Sept. 25, offering a comfortable, well-appointed retreat for first-class, business-class and Star Alliance Gold Card passengers traveling on member airlines from the renovated Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Occupying 18,000 square feet and designed by architectural firm Gensler, the lounge accommodates up to 400 travelers. It features a dedicated private area for first-class guests and an open-air terrace with views of the runway and the Hollywood Hills.

Air New Zealand developed and will manage the lounge. The space includes a bar, a library, a media room, an exterior seating area overlooking the terminal, a quiet study and eight shower suites. High-speed WiFi is provided throughout, along with printers, copy services, power outlets and USB ports to support business and leisure needs.

The interior design draws inspiration from Los Angeles and the city’s mid-century modern architectural heritage of the 1950s and 1960s. To give the lounge a distinct local character, black-and-white photographs of Los Angeles by photographer Peter Lik are displayed across the space.

Locally sourced materials were incorporated into the build, including glazed ceramic tile feature walls crafted by area artisans. The lounge was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Green Building Council to prioritize sustainability, and it is currently pursuing LEED Gold certification.
