Southwest Unveils First New Uniforms in 20 Years

Southwest Airlines is introducing an entirely new uniform line for the first time in twenty years.

The airline assembled an Employee Design Team to collaborate with a corporate apparel manufacturer on the new collection. After initial concepts were developed, 120 employees participated in a six-month trial, testing different options to evaluate fit, comfort, and functionality. In total, the design and testing process spanned three years.

The new uniforms draw from Southwest’s brand palette, featuring a bold blue, a warm red, and a silver tone. These colors are applied across a range of garments designed to reflect the airline’s signature look while supporting the practical needs of frontline staff.

The collection offers a variety of choices so employees can select pieces that suit their roles and preferences. Options include pants, shirts, polos, shorts, skirts, and dresses, all tailored for mobility and day-to-day wear in airport and onboard environments. Fabric and construction choices focused on durability, ease of movement, and professional presentation.

This uniform rollout follows other recent updates to Southwest’s visual identity and onboard experience. Alongside the new attire, the airline has refreshed cabin interiors, introduced a revised logo, and updated seat upholstery as part of a broader brand modernization effort.

Some passengers may already notice staff wearing elements of the new collection, and the airline plans to complete outfitting all employees by September.
