Mary Poppins has returned to the screen with Walt Disney Studios’ film Mary Poppins Returns, featuring Emily Blunt alongside original cast member Dick Van Dyke. To celebrate the film, The Milestone Hotel, opposite Kensington Gardens in London, is offering a themed escape inspired by the timeless story.
The Practically Perfect package centers on a special Spoonful of Sugar Afternoon Tea for two. The menu includes a chocolate pastry shaped like Mary Poppins’ floral hat, a black chimney sweep macaron, and a cupcake served with a chocolate spoon—an affectionate nod to the story’s famous refrain. Other confections are crafted to delight both children and adults: youngsters receive kite-shaped biscuits iced with cherry ganache, while adults can enjoy the Little Nip for Every Sip cocktail made with muddled raspberries, peach liqueur, peach purée, orange juice and ginger ale. A non-alcoholic alternative called the Most Delightful Way is presented for children in a whimsical medicine-style bottle.
Young guests are welcomed with a “silver” chocolate tuppence on arrival, which can be exchanged with the hotel concierge for a bird-feeding kit. The kit is ideal for feeding ducks in nearby Hyde Park. Weather permitting, families can also fly a kite in Kensington Gardens’ Italian Garden as part of the experience. As a charming keepsake, participants receive a red carnation buttonhole reminiscent of Mr. Banks’ signature accessory; hotel staff also wear red carnations to reflect The Milestone’s membership in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
The Practically Perfect getaway is available until Jan. 31 and starts at £540 per night (approximately $696), based on double occupancy in a classic double room. The rate includes a full English breakfast, and the afternoon tea is available to non-residents by reservation. The package blends nostalgic detail and family-friendly activities with luxurious comforts, making it a suitable choice for fans of the film and visitors seeking a special London stay.
