On May 17, New Castle celebrates a century of A Day in New Castle, first held in 1925 and known as the oldest house-and-garden tour in the United States. The event opens historic homes and private gardens, and features costumed reenactments, live demonstrations, colonial artisans, craft vendors and vintage cars. Highlights often include unique collections such as antique velocipedes and bicycles, and a selection of steam cars from museum collections.
Through Sept. 28, Longwood Gardens presents its Festival of Fountains, a program that invites visitors to relax on the grounds, enjoy beverages at the Beer Garden and attend scheduled performances. The festival’s lineup typically includes Main Fountain Garden performances, illuminated fountain shows, specialty fountain presentations and a Fireworks & Fountains display, all staged to showcase the gardens’ water features and landscape design.

From June 2 to 7, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church hosts its annual Greek Festival, a week of music, food, dance and culture. Visitors can sample regional specialties such as pastichio, moussaka, dolmades, spanakopita, gyros, souvlaki and calamari, and enjoy performances by youth and adult folk dance groups that celebrate Greek heritage and traditions.
Also in June, from the 8th through the 15th, St. Anthony’s Church presents its Italian Festival, one of the largest Italian-American cultural gatherings in the country. The event features live music, games, and abundant authentic Italian cuisine, offering attendees an immersive cultural experience with family-friendly activities.
