Virgin Atlantic Adds Second Daily San Francisco–London Heathrow Flight

Virgin Atlantic is increasing its service between San Francisco (SFO) and London (LHR), adding a second daily flight that will begin on Oct. 24.

Earlier, Virgin Atlantic had introduced a second San Francisco–London flight operating five times a week for the summer season starting March 29. Strong demand prompted the airline to extend that offering: from next winter the route will operate twice daily, seven days a week. This expansion is part of Virgin Atlantic’s joint venture with Delta Air Lines, which together provide as many as 39 transatlantic services per day at peak periods. The additional service will be operated using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

“San Francisco is a key market for Virgin Atlantic in the U.S. and over the last 21 years we’re proud to have built a strong customer base there,” said Chris Rossi, SVP North America, Virgin Atlantic. “This second daily flight will enable us to do an even better job for our customers and we’re excited to bring our newest Virgin Atlantic experience to the market which includes WiFi connectivity and a brand new seat product.”

Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft are configured with 264 seats: 31 in Upper Class, 35 in Premium Economy, and 198 in Economy. The additional frequency increases options for business and leisure travelers, offering more flexibility in departure times and improved connections to onward destinations through Heathrow.

The move reflects continued demand for transatlantic travel between the Bay Area and London, and aligns with efforts by carriers to restore and expand service following recent disruptions to global air travel. Passengers can expect the Dreamliner’s improved cabin environment and onboard amenities, including inflight WiFi, as part of Virgin Atlantic’s refreshed product on this route.
