Delta Air Lines has expanded its regional fleet through a new agreement with Bombardier, purchasing 20 Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
These CRJ900s will replace older regional aircraft operated on behalf of Delta Connection. The airline expects to receive the first aircraft later this year. Each new jet is fitted with Delta’s Atmosphere Cabin, offering increased carry-on storage, larger lavatories and refreshed interior styling for a more comfortable passenger experience.
Configured specifically for Delta, each CRJ900 will accommodate 70 passengers: 12 seats in First Class, 20 in Delta Comfort+ and 38 in the Main Cabin. The aircraft are intended for shorter-haul regional routes that serve Delta’s domestic hubs and smaller markets.
In addition to enhancing its regional fleet, Delta is expanding international service. The carrier has announced new nonstop routes from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol, plus a nonstop connection between Seattle (SEA) and Osaka’s Kansai International Airport in Japan, scheduled to begin in 2019.
By modernizing its regional fleet and adding long-haul gateways, Delta aims to improve comfort, capacity and connectivity for travelers across both domestic and international networks.
